Annual salary £34,000 [FTE £47,600]

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable advocate for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults to join the Minster team. Your responsibilities will include developing an organisation strategy and action plans to embed a healthy safeguarding culture and ensure alignment with the Church of England National Safeguarding Standards.

York Minster is a complex organisation, requiring a skilled, credible professional who can engage, influence and inspire good safeguarding practice across many staff, volunteer, congregation, visitor and community groups. You will have substantial experience of case worker lead responsibility and be as comfortable working with our senior executive and Trustee bodies as you are providing empathetic, victim centric support to someone raising a concern.

If appointed, you will find active support for safeguarding matters and an engaged team of colleagues to work amongst. This role is incredibly varied and offers personal job satisfaction and professional development. You do not need to disclose a personal faith in your application; however, we do ask that our Cathedral Safeguarding Officer respects the Christian ethos and mission of York Minster and would actively support our values of Integrity, Purpose, Humility and Compassion. Previous experience in a church setting isn’t essential, but you will need to evidence effectively working within a non-statutory context.
