The first workshop leading up to the epic Yarn Storming in Dean's Park in June
Yarn Storming workshop
18 Feb 17
Yarn Storming is coming to York Minster and we’re teaming up with the York KnitWits, a local craft community of people who love to knit, crochet, & cross-stitch to create something spectacular in Dean’s Park this summer.
An interactive and crafty Dean’s Park will come alive in June and run throughout the month but we want to get the yarn-ball rolling with the first of a series of workshops inside the Minster to prepare for the main event.
On Saturday 18 February between 10.00am and 3.00pm in the Chapter House, you can join us for a Yarn Storming Craft Day and help create items to bring the garden to life.
The theme for this year’s garden is ‘nature’ and we’ll be looking for lots of flowers, animals, and all things you’d find in the forest to make up this spectacular vision. One of the lead animals will be bunnies for our burrow and you’ll be able to try your hand at making Pom Pom rabbits, a crochet one or knit one too!
All materials are supplied for this event however York KnitWits is also launching its Yarn Appeal for anyone in the local community and beyond to donate as much knitting and crochet material as they’re able to offer for this and the upcoming workshop.
If you have any material you are wishing to donate, please bring these along to the main entrance at the Minster, or to one of the Minster Shops and they will be used to create a unique community art installation in Dean’s Park.
