As part of this year’s Visit York Residents Festival – we’re offering the chance for York Residents to see the wonderful landscape of York for free from our Central Tower.

The Tower offers unrivalled views of the city and is the highlight of many people’s visit to the Minster.

Usually priced at £5 for all, every available Tower trip on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 will be completely free.

Trips begin every 45 minutes starting 9.30am on the Saturday, with the last taking place at 4.15pm. Sunday see’s the first trip take place at 1.15pm and the last at 3.30pm.

Reminder: General admission to York Minster is free to York Residents all year round and we invite you to enjoy the building as little or as often as possible during our opening hours.

Our learning team will be borrowing some of our most fascinating collections and objects from the Old Palace on Saturday 27 (11.00am-4.00pm).

Important information for Tower Trips:

Pre-booking is not available prior to the day – you will be offered all available slots for the day when you arrive. We’ll aim to get you into the nearest slot to you arriving at the Minster but cannot guarantee this.

This offer is for York residents only with valid ID* - all other visitors will be charged the usual rate of £5

The trip is not available for under 8s or anyone who cannot be meet our H & S requirements. By buying a ticket you agree to these T&Cs.

Valid ID for the weekend will consist of a York Residents card or photographic ID such as DVLA license with a York address. Student cards for all local colleges and universities will be accepted with a valid date. Please note, York residents are classed as those whose postcode falls under the jurisdiction of the City of York Council.
