Create a flower for the Easter Garden

Scroll to explore

Create a paper spring flower inspired by York Minster for inclusion in a display for the cathedral’s Easter Garden.

The garden is a much-loved tradition at York Minster, depicting key scenes from the Passion.

This year people are being invited to send in paper flowers they have created for a special display being put together by the Minster’s flower arrangers. To take part, download our inspiration pack which features images of spring flowers from the cathedral’s historic Collection, and follow the instructions/template. Please send your flowers to:

The Old Palace Dean’s Park, York Minster, YO1 7JQ by Friday 8 April.

The Easter Garden will be in York Minster’s South Transept from Palm Sunday (10 April) and remains in place during Eastertide. It starts with just the tomb and three crosses, before new elements are added as the Easter story unfolds including palm branches, 30 pieces of silver (Judas Iscariot’s reward for his betrayal of Jesus), a crown of thorns and three nails and a length of material representing Jesus’ burial cloth. The flowers are one of the last elements to be added ready for Easter Day (Sunday 17 April).
