A special celebratory service and reception to mark the completion of the decade-long project to conserve and restore York Minster’s 600-year-old Great East Window, the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the country.
The project, which has also involved work to repair and replace stonework at the cathedral’s East End, has been one of the largest conservation and restoration projects of its kind in Europe.
The special Choral Evensong has been organised to thank all those who have been involved in the project over the last ten years. It will take place in the Nave and includes a rededication of the window by the Dean of York, the Very Reverend Vivienne Faull. The preacher at this service is the Very Reverend Keith Jones, Dean Emeritus.
Copies of York Glaziers Trust Director Sarah Brown’s new book – The Great East Window of York Minster – An English Masterpiece – will be available to purchase at the reception.
Both the service and reception are open to all to attend. If you’d like to attend the reception please email email@example.com to ensure we can be ready to welcome you.
