Undercroft Museum

Get hands-on with history in our Undercroft museum. Follow in the footsteps of Roman soldiers, discover the Minster’s connections to Viking York and see archaeological finds from across the centuries in state-of-the-art chambers beneath the cathedral.

The Undercroft Museum tells the story of two millennia of York’s history through digital displays and artefacts from the cathedral’s historic collection, never before on public display.

Our Little Explorer backpacks will also be available from the admissions desk to help younger visitors explore the cathedral during their visit.

Entry to York Minster is free for children, general admission tickets can be pre-booked here.
