Celebrate International Women’s Day and follow in the footsteps of women of faith at the annual festival of Hilda’s Heirs, held in partnership between the Diocese of York, York Minster and the Yorkshire North and East Methodist District.
The festival, which will take place inside York Minster on Saturday 9 March, is free to attend and includes acts of worship, a market place and specially designed trails exploring the legacy of women in York.
The day will begin with an accessible and inspiring service of thanksgiving at 10am, recognising the historic and current impact that women of faith have on our lives.
Women in positions of leadership from across different sectors and settings will host a market place, offering conversation and activities to visitors. Rachael Maskell, MP for York Central, will be in attendance.
Women in the Minster trail
We invite you to follow in the footsteps of inspirational women of faith who have played a part in creating this magnificent building, a little piece of Heaven on Earth. Sometimes as leaders, other times behind the scenes. Creating exquisite embroidery, designing fabulous floral displays; using their wealth, learning and talents to support the life of the Minster.
