Founded in 1928, the Friends of York Minster is an independent charity which works to help the cathedral preserve its past and inspire future generations.

The Friends currently has more than 2,500 members whose annual subscriptions are used to help fund specific projects to conserve and restore the cathedral and support its purpose as a place of worship and ministry for all.

As well as directly contributing to the work of the cathedral, there are a number of other benefits to joining the Friends:

• Free entry to York Minster
• Discounts in the Minster Shops and special offers on Friends’ Christmas cards
• Invitations to special events, lectures, outings and social gatherings
• Regular updates via newsletters and its annual report.

Eternal and infinite God, whose nature is beyond our understanding and whose beauty we can neither imagine nor express, be gracious to the Friends of York Minster who delight to make this earthly house an image of the glory of heaven.

Through their gifts and labours bring them to the joy of the Holy City; through Jesus Christ our Lord who, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, is one God now and for ever. Amen.
