York Minster and the York Minster Fund work with a range of partners, from specialist trusts to tourism agencies.

York Glaziers Trust

The York Glaziers Trust undertakes all work associated with the care and protection of York Minster’s 128 windows, which contain the largest and most diverse collection of historic stained-glass in Britain.

In 2017 the cathedral announced a 20-year partnership with the Trust to ensure all its irreplaceable windows are protected by state-of-the-art environmental protective glazing. The external glazing will protect the stained glass from the elements which cause corrosion and decay and buy much needed time for vital conservation work to take place. Supporters of the York Minster Fund

The York Minster Fund is supported by a number of individuals as well as charitable trusts and funds. See some of its recent supporters below.

Langleys Solicitors LLP

Langleys Solicitors is one of the UK’s leading law firms, working with businesses and individuals across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the East Midlands from its offices in York and Lincoln. The firm is the headline sponsor for the 2018 York Minster Fund Northern Lights Dinner, which will take place in the cathedral’s Nave during June.

National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF)

The fund is currently supporting a 20 year, £11m project to provide state-of-the-art protective glazing to all 128 of York Minster’s windows, providing protection against the elements to the irreplaceable medieval stained glass. NLHF has pledged to give a National Lottery grant of up to £1m to match every pound raised by the public and YMF, which will be used to establish an endowment fund to help pay for the glazing project.

Benefact Trust

Benefact Trust exists to make a positive difference to people's lives by funding, guiding and celebrating the work of churches and Christian charities; empowering the most vulnerable and giving people, communities and places a renewed opportunity to flourish.

Masonic Charitable Foundation

The foundation, which is funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, donated £170,000 to the cathedral in 2017 to fund three stonemasonry apprenticeships. MCF is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country. As well as supporting Freemasons and their families, it awards millions of pounds each year to local and national charities which help vulnerable people, advance medical research and provide opportunities for young people.

The Headley Trust

The Headley Trust is part of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts which is the operating office of 17 different independent grant-making trusts established by members of three generations of the Sainsbury family.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Fund launched a series of packages for supporters which include special access to parts of the cathedral, priority booking for events and discounts at our Shops. See a list of our current Patrons below.
