The Orb was an exciting visitor attraction at York Minster offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to see, at close range, some of the world's most important medieval stained-glass.

Within this elliptical treasure-house there was chance for visitors to discover one of the world’s greatest medieval artists for the first time - England's lost Vermeer or Michelangelo.

The Orb permanently closed to visitors on 31 May 2015 so York Glaziers Trust could start the epic task of returning the restored glass to the Great East Window.

Over 1.4 million of you came to visit The Orb during the three years it was in situ.
