What's onVisiting York Minster.
VisitYork Minster is welcoming Group visitors again and is currently taking enquiries/bookings – please contact our Bookings Team on t: 01904 557275 or e: bookings@yorkminster.org for details and to book your visit.
Please note we are currently only able to accept bookings for groups of up to 33 people and all visits must be booked in advance.
The cathedral has more medieval stained glass than anywhere else in the country and in 2018, for the first time in nearly a decade, visitors are able to see one of our most famous works of art – the Great East Window – revealed following a major restoration and conservation project.
Step below the Minster’s floor to see, touch and hear 2,000 years of history in the immersive, state-of-the-art Undercroft Museum. Follow in the footsteps of Roman soldiers, learn about the history of the site and how it has influenced both the region’s and nation’s history, and see artefacts from the cathedral’s historic Collection never before on public display.
To help you explore the cathedral’s rich history, groups have the option to book a private tour guide for your visit. If you would be interested in a guided tour, please contact us using the details below at least a month before your visit so we can book one of our guides.
Tours can be arranged between 10am and 3pm. Please note that only Minster accredited guides can guide in the cathedral and no guiding is permitted on Sundays.

You can check our calendar for current opening times here, but as a working cathedral, we do need to close from time to time at short notice so we strongly recommend booking in advance so we can keep you informed of any changes in opening times.
