On selected Saturdays in November and December, join York Minster’s festive workshops and get hands-on creating Christmas decorations for your own home with the help of expert local craftspeople.  

Tickets for these workshops are very limited to enable our coordinators to provide hands-on help and guidance. Choose from gilding or wreath making workshops, the perfect festive treat!  

Gilding Workshops – SOLD OUT!

Saturdays 22 & 29 November, 1pm – 4pm   

Join York-based artist and tutor Rob Oldfield for an introduction to gilding. In this relaxed workshop, you will have the opportunity to create a beautiful golden Christmas decoration, based on an original York Minster design to display in your own home.

Christmas Wreath Workshops – SOLD OUT!

Saturdays 6 & 13 December, 1.30pm – 3.30pm  

Join Mandy Barker, York Minster’s expert Head Flower Arranger, for a masterclass in creating the perfect Christmas wreath for your home. Use locally sourced sustainable cuttings of winter plants like evergreens, wild holly, ivy and fir to create a 12” wreath.

Practical information:  

The workshops will take place in St Stephen’s Chapel by the Great East Window and hot drinks will be available.  

All sessions are suitable for all ability levels, including beginners, and will take place in a relaxed, supportive and encouraging environment. Our workshop coordinators are happy to work with those with additional needs. Please email us in advance so we can best support you.
