York Ice Trail

Crafting a Legacy

Scroll to explore

The popular York Ice Trail returns on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February. York’s city centre will be transformed into ‘An Enchanted City’, where a mysterious spell has taken hold…

This year, York Minster’s sculpture St William’s Poisoned Chalice will tell the story of the mysterious death of York’s patron saint. Rumour has it that one of his many enemies poisoned his communion chalice during the Eucharist, but this is one medieval mystery that has never been solved.

The sculpture will be situated outside the Minster on High Petergate.
