National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF)

The fund is currently supporting a 20 year, £11m project to provide state-of-the-art protective glazing to all 128 of York Minster’s windows, providing protection against the elements to the irreplaceable medieval stained glass. NLHF has pledged to give a National Lottery grant of up to £1m to match every pound raised by the public and YMF, which will be used to establish an endowment fund to help pay for the glazing project.

Masonic Charitable Foundation

The foundation, which is funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, donated £170,000 to the cathedral in 2017 to fund three stonemasonry apprenticeships. MCF is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country. As well as supporting Freemasons and their families, it awards millions of pounds each year to local and national charities which help vulnerable people, advance medical research and provide opportunities for young people. www.mcf.org.uk
