£15,915.90 per annum (£17.49 per hour)

A Project Curator is sought, for a temporary role focused on developing a body of research, information and resources to support interpretation of key aspects of York Minster’s history and heritage, in the context of the cathedral site and its collections.  The resources created will inform interpretation and display, learning and events programmes, public engagement and the visitor experience.

The postholder will be based within York Minster’s Collections team.  York Minster’s museum, library and archive collections consist of over 300,000 items, with artefact collections ranging from stained glass, silver and furniture to archaeology, sculpture, stonework, textiles and social history material. The Minster is home to an Accredited Museum, the Undercroft Museum; the largest Cathedral Library in the country with over 90,000 volumes; and an Accredited Archive Service, with archival records and manuscripts dating back one thousand years.

The role is suitable for an individual with established research skills and demonstrable experience of development of resources for interpretation and public engagement.  The successful candidate will have excellent spoken and written communication skills, and strong organisational and time management skills.  Highly motivated, the work they produce will have a long-term impact as a resource for public engagement and interpretation.
