Access for media, filming and photography

York Minster has an international reputation as one of the world’s most magnificent cathedrals.

As the Mother Church of the Northern Province of the Church of England, we host a range of important services and events throughout the year.

The Communications Team manages all requests for media access to the cathedral and commercial filming and photography. Where possible, we welcome and accommodate filming and photography requests, but as a working church there may occasionally be restrictions.

All media wishing to attend York Minster in a professional capacity must gain accreditation in advance from the Communications Team.

We welcome media visits and are happy to arrange tours for accredited journalists. We do our best to accommodate media at special events inside the cathedral.
