Stations of the Cross

Follow the footsteps of Jesus and journey around seven stations in Dean’s Park, featuring artwork by local school children and material to encourage reflection and prayer. A final station will be placed inside the Minster on Easter Day, Sunday 17 April.

The stations will be available for people to explore each day in Dean’s Park, which lies to the north of the cathedral and is open daily from 7am to 7pm.

Sculpture Trail

Over three hundred years ago a talented and famous sculptor called Grinling Gibbons created some of the many monuments at York Minster.

Inspired by the Grinling Gibbons exhibition currently on display, follow our sculpture trail and hunt for sculptures and carvings which have been hidden in the building for centuries.

Undercroft Museum

Get hands-on with history in our Undercroft museum. Follow in the footsteps of Roman soldiers, discover the Minster’s connections to Viking York and see archaeological finds from across the centuries in state-of-the-art chambers beneath the cathedral.

The Undercroft Museum tells the story of two millennia of York’s history through digital displays and artefacts from the cathedral’s historic collection, never before on public display.

Find out more HERE.

Our Little Explorer backpacks will also be available from the admissions desk to help younger visitors explore the cathedral during their visit.

Entry to York Minster is free for children, general admission tickets can be pre-booked HERE.
