How to leave your legacy gift 

If you’ve decided that putting a gift in your Will to York Minster matters to you, then we advise you to take legal advice to ensure your wishes are accurately reflected. 

Here is a form of wording which a solicitor can help you to adapt to your own circumstances. 

• Residuary bequest 

Subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give a ….%  of my residuary estate to York Minster Fund xxxx. Registered Charity Number, to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of their Director or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.  

• Pecuniary bequest: 

I give the sum of £… pounds [words and figures] free of tax to York Minster Fund, Registered Charity Number xxxx, to be used for its general charitable purposes, and I declare that the receipt of their Director or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.
