Scroll to explore

Join the Michael Ramsey Prize-winning author Frederick Christian Bauerschmidt discussing the topic of his award-winning book The Love that is God: An Invitation to the Christian Faith after a service of Choral Evensong.

During this engaging evening, acclaimed writer Frederick Christian Bauerschmidt will delve into the themes and concepts explored in his prize-winning book The Love that is God, offering a rich exploration of faith, God’s identity and divine love. Find out why The Love that is God has been described as a book that “shines new light on the mystery of God’s love” (Paula Gooder) and “is destined to become a classic” (Stanley Hauerwas).

The Michael Ramsey Prize is the book award that celebrates the best contemporary theological writing in the Church. It was established in 2007 by Archbishop Rowan Williams to encourage the reading and writing of theology that “could communicate with the educated reader who was not a specialist”. Re-launched in 2023 by Archbishop Justin Welby, the prize was awarded to Frederick Christian Bauerschmidt, Professor of Theology at Loyola University Maryland and a deacon of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, in December.

Soft drinks, cake & nibbles provided. There will be an opportunity provided to buy a book and get your copy signed by the author.

This event will take place on Thursday 23 May following Evensong which begins at 5.30pm in York Minster’s medieval Quire. The talk will begin at 6.30pm in the Lady Chapel.
