York Ice Trail

A Make It York event

Scroll to explore

The popular York Ice Trail returns to York on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 February with a range of magnificent ice sculptures set to transform the city centre.

This year’s trail will feature magical, fictional, and spectacular masterpieces sponsored by local businesses to turn York into ‘The City of Dreams’.

This year, York Minster’s sculpture features the ‘big bad wolf’ inspired by the cathedral’s upcoming performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s classic Peter and the Wolf on Tuesday 13 February.

Prokofiev’s familiar and accessible composition is the perfect introduction to classical music, with captivating instrumental characterisations of Peter’s animal friends created using special stops on the organ.

The sculpture will be situated on the Minster’s South Piazza from 10am Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 February for people to view as part of the trail.
