Go above the rooftops of York as you climb York Minster’s Central Tower, the highest point in the city.

Surrounded by history

As you climb the 275 steps to the top of the tower you are surround by the Minster’s history. See if you can spot:

Medieval masonry – it’s not hard to picture yourself following in the footsteps of a 15th century stonemason climbing with chisel in hand to reach that day’s project.
Gothic grotesques – there are hundreds of intricately carved figures decorating the cathedral, you may be surprised at what is depicted!
Feathered friends – listen out for the distinctive cries of our resident peregrine falcons as they race through the sky.

There’s no better way to see York than from the very top of its tallest building!

Enjoy panoramic views across the historic city and surrounding countryside. Take your time admiring the Rivers Ouse and Foss, the iconic city walls, and the bustling streets below.

On a clear day, look out for the Kilburn White Horse cut into the hillside in the North York Moors National Park.
