Visions, Voices, Vocations: Women in the Minster tours and trails

The 100th anniversary of the rededication of the Five Sisters Window

Scroll to explore

On Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2pm, York Minster’s expert volunteer guides follow in the footsteps of inspirational women including Saint Hilda of Whitby, Saint Æthelburh of Kent, and Saint Helena of Constantinople, on special tours around the cathedral.

Visitors will have the chance to learn about the historic female figures who have shaped life at York Minster, whose contributions were often overlooked or misattributed to male relatives, as well as some of the women who work, volunteer, and worship here today.

Self-guided trail maps are also available from the Welcome Desks, during standard visiting hours.

The tours will run until the end of December. Guided tours and trail maps are included with a general admission ticket.
