On the 6th February 1952 Elizabeth was proclaimed Queen Elizabeth II, aged just 25. Today in our worship we give thanks for Elizabeth’s reign as Queen in this year of her Platinum Jubilee.

Choral Matins – 10am

At 10am we hold a service of Choral Matins with music by Shephard, Britten and Loosemore, concluding with the State Prayers for the Queen and the Royal Family.

All are welcome, no booking required.

Choral Eucharist – 11am

Our Choral Eucharist at 11am will recall the Accession of Her Majesty the Queen, and help us reflect on our own calling as Disciples of Christ. The sermon will be given by the Rt Revd Richard Frith, former Bishop of Hereford.

All are welcome, no booking required.

The service will also be livestreamed via this page and our YouTube channel.

Choral Evensong – 4pm

On Sunday afternoon there will be a quarter peal rung on the bells of York Minster followed by a special service of Choral Evensong at 4pm. The service will include the Accession Responses by Francis Jackson, Herbert Howells’ Evening Service in G and ‘I was glad’ by Hubert Parry, the anthem sung at the Coronation Service in 1953. The Organ Voluntary will be William Walton’s Orb and Sceptre and we sing one of the Queen’s favourite hymns, ‘Praise my Soul the King of Heaven’. The preacher is Canon Victoria Johnson, Precentor.

All are welcome, no booking required.

The service will also be livestreamed via this page and our YouTube channel.
